Art Hanging Layout Planner
Tell us your wall. We'll tell you where to put the nail.
Enter your wall size, any furniture below it, and the pieces you want to hang. The planner generates layout options and gives you exact nail positions — no measuring tape math required.
How the Art Hanging Layout Planner Works
The Art Hanging Layout Planner takes the guesswork out of hanging pictures, art, and gallery walls. Enter your wall dimensions, tell it what's below the wall (couch, console table, bed, or nothing), add your art pieces with their dimensions, and the tool generates precise layout options with exact nail positions. No math, no measuring twice and still getting it wrong, no unnecessary holes in the wall. Toggle between layout options — centered, grid, salon-style — and get a measurement diagram you can reference while you hang.
How It Works
- Enter your wall width and height, and select what's below the hanging area (furniture type and its height, or freestanding wall).
- Add your art pieces — enter the width and height of each frame. Add as many pieces as you need.
- The tool generates layout options with exact measurements. Each option shows precisely where each piece goes and where to place your nails or hooks, measured from the edges of the wall. Switch between layouts with one click.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the tool calculate where to hang things?
The tool uses standard gallery and interior design spacing guidelines — 57 inches to center for eye-level hanging, 6–8 inches above furniture, and consistent gaps between pieces in multi-art layouts. These are the same rules professional picture hangers and gallery installers use. All the math runs in your browser — no data is sent to a server.
Does it work for gallery walls with different-sized pieces?
Yes. You can add pieces of any size and the tool will generate arrangements that account for the different dimensions. Salon-style (mixed size) layouts are one of the available options alongside grids and centered arrangements.
What if my wall has a window or a door in the way?
The current version calculates layouts based on the full wall dimensions you provide. If you have a window or obstruction, measure the usable wall space and enter those dimensions instead of the full wall width.
Do I need to create an account?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is stored, no account is needed, and your wall dimensions aren't sent anywhere. Just open the page and start entering measurements.
